A Festive Messianic
Outreach!

Local
Congregation, Hope of Israel,
at Charlotte, NC's 'Festival in the Park' 2000 |
One of our goals at
Word of Messiah Ministries is to see local congregations reach the Jewish
communities in their areas. Recently Hope of Israel Congregation (that the
Nadler’s are helping plant in Charlotte, NC) was invited by Artists of
Faith to be involved and proclaim Messiah in a very secular local
“Festival in the Park” attended by 100,000 people. Thousands of
people, including many from the Jewish community, heard the Great News of
Messiah's salvation and new life. The following is a note of encouragement
I sent out to the congregation to report on the results.
Shalom family in Messiah,
Regarding the outreach on Saturday evening at Freedom Park- I've been
involved in hundred's of these and I thought this was a wonderful success.
The music, dance and outreach teams all did very well. Many Jewish people
as well as many Gentiles heard the Great News, because of the divine
strategic placement of the team- right by the park entrance, so everyone
entering had opportunity to hear the message! The music sounded great,
while the dance team was a huge success and a great draw. In fact,
one questioning Jewish man (*Joel) I spoke to, (though he was annoyed by
what he call "the deception of calling yourselves Jews, when everyone
knows you believe in
Jesus!") - was stunned by the quality and professionalism of the
music and dance teams! “How did your group get this good in such a short
period of time?" was all he could say. I had a great time talking to
him about the Jewish Messiah and I trust the seed planted will one day
come to fruition. |

Here the HOI Dance Team honors Yeshua,
the God of Israel, with Messianic/Israeli style dancing. (And they had fun doing it too!) |

In Jewish ministry, apathy is the worst enemy. We expect a reaction (even
a
hostile reaction) before a response (even a saving response-
remember, Rav Shaul's (Paul’s) first "reaction" was quite
negative before he eventually "responded" in faith and became
Paul, the apostle.). So, we praise God for all who heard and couldn't
ignore the message of Messiah.
Another Jewish man (*Sid) who sat through the whole program and took
pictures was spoken to by Scott and myself. He was struck by everyone's
sincerity of faith, though he couldn't fully grasp how faith in
"Jesus" could deliver someone from drugs (Gerry Lefkowitz’s
testimony). I reminded him that God's power in dividing the Red Sea was
the same power available in the Messiah of Israel! I'm trusting that seed
will one day bear fruit and that I'll see Sid in heaven as well!
I want to thank David, as he diligently led, organized and carried through
so that we had a great outreach on Saturday, without any discouragement
arising from the Friday rainout. Besides the music, dance and testimonies,
the outreach team led by Tony Bateman, handed out more than a thousand
pieces of ‘Good News literature’. It was also very encouraging to see
so many from the congregation present, who supported the effort with
prayer. It was a little like the story of Moses on the mountain praying
for Joshua out on the battlefield!
Besides those who saw us at the park, there was a great community wide
testimony as well with the Charlotte Observer profiling Hope of Israel’s
involvement. Let’s press on for Messiah's glory, and continue His
outreach & ministry of love!
For Him alone, Sam
Cathy Brock, coordinator of the Artists of Faith stage, wrote to the
congregation: “You are the ones who deserve the big "THANK
YOU". We were Sooo blessed by your participation. Every artist who
performed met ‘heavy spiritual opposition’, most notably (your)
Messianic congregation who sang, danced, gave their testimonies, and blew
the shofar over the whole park! Even so, the artists commented on what a
wonderful display of love, devotion and talent was represented from your
members. In retrospect we agreed that "Hope of Israel" drew the
most attention, and you shined as artists committed to the cause. All were
important, but you stood out. Again, thank you for the beautiful
expression of Father's love! We were truly inspired and welcome any
opportunities to unite with you again in the future as we embark to win
souls.” |

What had
been planned to be a mere “Festival in the Park” was transformed by
the Good News of Messiah into a True Festival to God's glory! Keep praying
for Word of Messiah Ministries, as we are working to see many such
congregations planted and reaching out to Jewish people around the world!
Shalom. Y |
