Leadership
The ministry of leadership
has
become a perilous journey. In
a world of changing cultural values and heightened expectations, the
pressure to continually succeed weighs heavily upon today's ministry
leader. Too often the leader's role is undefined,
increasing the risk of public criticism and stress.
Wise and effective leaders
(and
teams) have always benefited from coaching from a variety of means (e.g.;
counselors, mentors, advisers, pastor/teachers, trainers, etc., see Gen.
41:12-39; Ex. 18:14-24; 1 Sam. 15:31-37; l Kgs. 12:6-16; Acts 18:24-26;
27:31-44). In fact, the value and worth of good coaching is proverbial-."The
way of a fool is right in his own eyes; but he that hearkens to counsel is
wise" (Prov.12:15, see also 13:10; 20:18-19; 27:9).
Leadership is a calling. It
demands decisiveness amidst ambiguity. While remaining "above reproach" (I Tim. 3:2), the leader
is expected to achieve certain accomplishments, results and measurable
growth according to a bottom line which
is
often unclear. Consequently, leaders are falling prey to burnout and moral failure at an
increasing rate. Many are
leaving the leadership ranks altogether.
This trend will be reversed as leaders take initiative to partner
with godly, qualified coaches.
Learning to Lead
Sam Nadler
understands the leadership role
from the inside. A
Jewish believer, Sam was a leader in the early days of
Jews
for Jesus in the 1970s. Along
with his wife, Miriam, Sam pioneered the JFJ
mobile evangelistic team,
The
Liberated Wailing Wall, and established JFJ’s
New York City branch.
In 1979, God called Sam to provide leadership for
Chosen
People Ministries (CPM). First,
as CPM's New York City Director, Sam
mobilized the staff to engage in team-oriented outreach that was bold,
creative, and culturally relevant. This
served to enhance the ministry's local profile and evangelistic
productivity.
The following year,
as Northeast Regional
Director for CPM, Sam witnessed the Lord's
blessing through an increase of staff and financial support. Convinced that The
Great Commission is not only evangelism, but evangelism that produces
discipled
believers, Sam began personally planting as well as
supervising the planting of several Messianic congregations in the
Northeastern US. As God's grace
became evident, Sam was then asked to lead the worldwide organization.
In
1989 as
President
of CPM, Sam
brought new strategic intent to the global work.
With The Great Commission as his objective, Sam launched the
century-old Jewish ministry in a new strategic direction: the planting of
Messianic congregations among the Jewish people. Again the Lord blessed, providing a larger operating budget and the
establishment of new ministries in twice as many countries
as before.
It
was during this time that Sam made a significant observation: when
leaders are trained and coached,
they are more effective than when they minister alone!
Sam's
passion and burden to help Messianic leaders was the impetus the Lord used to
establish Word of Messiah Ministries
in 1996.
Effective Coaching
Coaching provides the ‘missing element’
for a biblically successful ministry. With coaching, the
Messianic leader/leadership team receives the
mentoring and encouragement needed to navigate the maze of ministry
issues. Coaching also
provides the practical help and ongoing guidance that leaders need to
accomplish their work for the Lord more effectively.
Sam's
vast range of experience in Messianic ministry qualifies him to speak
directly and dynamically to the needs of today's leaders. He is uniquely equipped to coach a broad range of
Messianic leaders
and leadership teams in the U.S.
and around the world in such ministries as: evangelism, discipleship,
leadership development, and planting and growing
congregations.

What
leaders are saying about the ministry of Sam Nadler:
Scott Brown, Messianic congregation leader of
Son
of David Congregation in Rockville, Md.: "Sam was the first to give me what I really needed. He rifled
solutions to me, which advanced me toward my goal. By God's grace, Sam
Nadler’s coaching made the difference between success and failure in my
ministry.”
Jim Kallam,
Sr. Pastor,
Church at Charlotte, the largest
Evangelical Free Church in the southeast U.S.:
"Sam Nadler has the best teaching on leadership I've heard; he's a
constant source of encouragement to me in
my leadership role and my life."
Vladimir Pikman, Messianic congregation
planter in Berlin, Germany: “Sam's
leadership training and coaching helped me to have better priorities for
my family and ministry. I now understand and am able to accomplish the
Great Commission in a more
effective, wise and comprehensive manner.”
Jonathan Sacks,
congregation leader of
Hope in Messiah Congregation
in Bowling
Green, KY:
Over the past several years, the Lord has used Sam Nadler to help us
identify and implement congregational systems that have helped us
minister more effectively. Implementing, reviewing, and modifying
systems for making contacts, disciples, members and leaders is essential
for Hope in Messiah Congregation to fulfill its calling and vision to be fruitful in
making disciples in our area and beyond. We have made substantial
progress in the last year, including our website, Area Ministry Teams,
and enhanced Shabbat School classes for children. While we are
certainly stronger than we were a year ago, we are confident that the
Lord has much more for us in the coming months and years.
